By inserting a fluorescent or luminescent protein together with the self-cleaving peptide T2A just before the stop codon of the gene of interest, the expression of the gene of interest can be monitored in living cells.In addition, since the 2A peptide is attached to the C-terminus of the gene of interest, immunostaining and Western blotting are possible by using an antibody that recognizes the 2A peptide.
